If there is one thing that is awful about beer, and drinking in general it is the dreaded hangover.
Well, the researchers in Queensland, Australia’s Griffith University’s Health Institute think they may have found a way to prevent that. The reason you get hangovers from beer is dehydration.
The research team was able to manipulate electrolyte levels in two commercial beers, one regular strength and one light. The next test was to give them to people who had just finished intense exercise.
The study showed the altered light beer was a third more effective at hydrating a person than normal beer. Ok, so this is hardly a cure, but it is a step in the right direction.
“This is definitely not a good idea, but what we’ve found is that many people who sweat a lot, especially tradesmen, knock off work and have a beer,” In an interview with theAustralian.com, associate professor Ben Desbrow said,

But alcohol in a dehydrated body can have all sorts of repercussions, including decreased awareness of risk. So, if you’re going to live in the real world, you can either spend your time telling people what they shouldn’t do, or you can work on ways of reducing the danger of some of these socialized activities.”
