Pico De Gallo Recipe

Salsa is the number one condiment in America, and what’s not to love about it?  It’s sweet and spicy, goes great with chips, on burgers, in tacos, with salmon, or almost anything else.  To say it is versatile is an understatement.  It is also easy to make.  Making your own salsa or pico de gallo has a ton of benefits over the store-bought variety.  First, you can control the heat perfectly for your tastes.  Second, you know exactly what is in it.  Finally, fresh pico de gallo will taste better than anything that comes out of a jar.  This pico de gallo recipe is simple, clean, and fresh.  Enjoy!

Pico De Gallo Recipe

makes 2 jars

3 medium vine ripe tomatoes

1 red onion

2 jalapeños

2 gloves of garlic

3 tablespoons cilantro

Juice of one lime

Dice the tomatoes and onion into 1/4 inch pieces.  Finely dice the jalapeños.  If you want less heat be sure to remove the seeds by cutting the jalapeño in half and scooping them out with a spoon.  Mince the garlic.  Chop the cilantro.  In a bowl combine all the ingredients.  Let rest for an hour and serve.

Of course this basic pico de gallo is just the beginning.  You can take it to the next level by adding mango, pineapple, avocado, roasted red pepper… the possibilities are endless and delicious.  Have fun experimenting!
