Mountain Dew adds Zion Williamson to its talented team roster

Another talented superstar has joined the Mountain Dew crew. Zion Williamson, the first pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, has signed a five-year partnership with the popular beverage brand. Are you ready to see what the pair has in store for fans?

To kick off this partnership, the pair unveiled a mural by artist Ceaux Young. This comic-book style mural is featured on a set of Spartanburg refurnished basketball courts.

Looking at the mural, it is a great representation of both Mountain Dew and Zion. The comic book style reflects one of William’s passions, comic books. Second, the location is a nice reminder of his roots at the Spartanburg Day School.

“Playing high school basketball at Spartanburg Day School is what helped put me on the map – so it’s been fun to team up with my new partner Mountain Dew and Ceaux Young to make this mural happen,” said Zion Williamson. “I’ve always been a huge comic book fan – it’s so cool to see how Ceaux brought these scenes to life on the courts in Spartanburg.”

For MTN Dew, this mural was a fun way to launch a new, special Snapchat content. Located in that mural is a special Snapchat code that unlocks augmented reality content.

The Snapchat content is the first time Dew is using this method. The marker located on an athlete’s jersey will unlock the special Snapchat content. The method works whether the jersey is in person or via a photo of the jersey.

While this new content is for Zion’s partnership, there could be all types of applications for the future. Given the long list MTN Dew Team members, the possibilities of using this Snapchat content is vast.
