McDonald’s new menu items are having people rethinking that big salad. With the focus on bacon, more people are agreeing that more bacon is better.

Forget that pesky resolution. McDonald’s new menu items are having people resolving to eat more bacon. From burgers to fries, the restaurant giant is having a bacon bonanza. Although only available for a limited time, these new menu items are a bacon fan’s dream.

According to a McDonald’s press release, the company is adding bacon to three classic menu items. The three new limited time menu offerings are:

"Big Mac Bacon: An exciting twist on the iconic fan-favorite’s 50-year history, three pieces of thick cut Applewood smoked bacon adorn two 100% all beef patties, lettuce, cheese, pickles, Special Sauce and onions on a sesame seed bun.Quarter Pounder Bacon: Three pieces of thick cut Applewood smoked bacon added to the hot and deliciously juicy fresh beef** burger cooked right when you order.Cheesy Bacon Fries: McDonald’s World Famous Fries® topped with real cheddar cheese sauce and smoked bacon bits."

While the cheesy bacon fries did have a limited try-out last year, these three menu items’ rollout will happen nationwide. The new menu items are set to hit restaurants starting January 30. The exact duration of this launch is unclear.

McDonald’s is always trying to be a leader in the industry. While the brand continues to use its scale for good, it cannot ignore consumer demand for tasty food. Although these menu items might not be trendy, the represent an ingredient that is always popular bacon.

Adding bacon to two of its iconic burgers isn’t necessarily a huge stretch. This idea makes sense and could become a menu staple. It wouldn’t be hard to have a bacon option always available.

The cheesy bacon fries could be the next late night favorite food. While the menu item uses bacon bits, not pieces of bacon, the dish should still be tasty. As long as the ratio of cheese sauce to fries is proportional, it should be tasty. No one wants too much or too little cheese sauce with their fries.

Will you be stalking your local restaurant for McDonald’s new menu items? Are these options tempting enough for you to kick that salad resolution to the curb?
