The claw has some competition. Bud Light Seltzer is joining the popular alcoholic seltzer market but you will have to wait a little bit to try it.

Love alcoholic seltzers but have a hard time finding them? Bud Light Seltzer is joining the current beverage trend. After last year’s light beer wars, Bud Light is looking to make its mark on the seltzer arena. Could these alcoholic beverages knock other brands off their top spot perch?

The alcoholic seltzer market has seen a huge growth. What started with just a few brands has expanded in huge numbers. In some cases, that popularity caused shortages and potentially a little hording with some fans.

While many people are brand loyalists, some people prefer to sample the variety of options on store shelves. Even though there are similarities within the field, each brand has its own unique perspective on this beverage market.

Bud Light Seltzer will be coming to store shelves in 2020. While the exact launch date is unclear, it will happen in the first quarter of 2020. Could this Bud Light beverage happen in time for all those Super Bowl parties?

According to the brand, the alcoholic seltzer is made with “real cane sugar and natural fruit flavor.” The four flavor varieties are Black Cherry, Lemon Lime, Strawberry and Mango. Each serving will be a ”100 calories, 5% ABV, 2 grams carbs and <1 gram of sugar.”

According to Bud Light Vice President of Marketing Andy Goeler “Bud Light Seltzer – an easy-drinking hard seltzer with a hint of delicious fruit flavor to deliver the most refreshing taste possible. Our brewing team created the perfect hard seltzer for any occasion using a unique five-step filtration process and the highest quality ingredients like sparkling water, real cane sugar, and natural fruit flavor.”

That statement continues Bud Light’s agenda of being more transparent on its ingredients. As seen in the traditional Bud Light beer, the ingredient list is front and center on its packaging. It makes sense that this newest beverage would continue that focus.

While some people are drawn to alcoholic seltzers for the lower carbs and less sugar, some beer drinkers are drawn to these beverages because of beer fatigue. Although that big, hoppy IPA can be quite tasty, occasionally drinkers need a break. The alcoholic seltzer offers a clean, refreshing taste.

The Bud Light Seltzer will be offered in “variety 12-pack, single-flavor 12-packs and single-flavor 25 oz cans.” But, again, you will have to wait till 2020 to taste them.

What do you think of this new Bud Light Seltzer? Do you think that it could bump other brands off the top spot?
