Peet’s Coffee wants you to master the perfect cold brew coffee.

The perfect cold brew coffee can be made at home. Peet’s Coffee knows about a delicious cup of coffee. While their baristas are always ready to make guests a crafted cup of coffee, some people are preferring to enjoy their favorite beverage at home. Luckily, the brand is sharing some of its coffee secrets.

Cold brew coffee has become a popular beverage for many coffee drinkers. The smooth taste is often the reason for its popularity. Often, this type of coffee requires little cream, sugar or other flavor additions.

Also, the cold brewing method can reduce the acidity in a cup of coffee. By slowly allowing the coffee grounds to release their flavor, the flavor is bold, but not acidic. After trying this type of coffee, many people become a fan.

During warmer months, many people prefer cold brew iced coffee because of the bold flavor. When served over ice, the coffee taste comes through in ever sip. It is more about the true coffee flavor versus a water downed version.

While cold brew coffee has become more popular, there are a few tricks and tips to create a perfect cup of coffee. Peet’s Coffee has recently shared its secrets to the perfect cold brew coffee.

For anyone who is a coffee fan, many of these items will be in the kitchen or pantry. If you do not have a cold brewer at home, there are many versions available at various stores. Personally, the Takeya Cold Brewer is the one in my house. It is simple, easy and convenient.

Also, the coffee, itself, matters. If you are going to put the effort into making cold brew coffee, it is best to use good coffee.

Here’s how Peet’s Coffee makes the perfect cold brew.

What you’ll need:

  • Cold Brewer
  • Grinder
  • Coffee
  • Scale
  • Fresh water
  • Whisk or Spoon
  • Mug

Instructions:

1. MEASURE & GRIND: Measure and grind 250 grams of freshly roasted coffee beans to the consistency of coarse sea salt.

Peet’s tip: 250 grams is just over a half-pound of coffee. A finer grind will cause over-extraction during the brewing process.

2. PREPARE & BREW: Add ground coffee to the cold brewer filter and then slowly pour in 1 liter of cold, freshly filtered water. Allow the grounds to bloom for at least 30 seconds. Then carefully pour in the remaining ¼ liter (250 ml) of fresh, cold water.

Peet’s tip: Use the back of a spoon or whisk to gently push any dry grounds below the surface of water until all of the grounds are saturated.

3. WAIT: Let the coffee brew for a minimum of 12 hours. You can brew at room temperature or in your refrigerator.

4. DRAIN: Lift the filter and let the cold brew concentrated drain completely before discarding the grounds.

5. ENJOY: To serve, dilute 1 part cold brew concentrate with 2 parts cold water. Adjust the strength to your taste.

While you cannot have a cold brew coffee without some planning, the flavor is worth the effort. Maybe over the weekend, coffee drinkers can try this method and put it to the flavor test. It might be your new brunch beverage.

Are you a cold brew coffee fan? What is your favorite coffee drink?
