If you are celebrating National Oyster Day, this cocktail pairing is a must try.

For many people, National Oyster Day is the perfect excuse to enjoy a dish of these delicious mollusks. Whether eaten raw, grilled or even oysters Rockefeller, a perfect cocktail pairing makes those oysters even more delightful.

While oysters are now considered a delicacy, they were once considered a working man’s food. The plentiful seafood filled the bays. Over time, the plentiful food became more scare and more valued. Now, that dozen of raw oyster is as expensive as a filet mignon.

Since oysters adapt the flavors from the water where they live, the flavors can be briny like the sea. When considering a cocktail pairing for that delectable oyster, the beverage needs to celebrate the flavors of the sea.

While many people might choose a white wine or a sparkling wine, a more intriguing pairing is a Noilly Prat cocktail. For those unfamiliar, Noilly Prat is a the original French Vermouth that is made by the sea.

Often associated with the sea, the vermouth’s aging process creates its unique flavor. The Noilly Prat aging process is meant to mimic wine being transported on sailing ships. That sea air infuses barrels with those briny notes which makes for a lovely flavor.

Over the years, many people have found that the Noilly Prat Original Dry is a perfect pairing to fresh oysters. Similar to the idea of what grows together goes together, these two foods play off each other in the best way.

While it might not be possible to enjoy fresh oysters in Southern France right now, everyone can enjoy a perfect cocktail on National Oyster Day. The L’Aperitif Original Dry on Ice is a perfect choice.
