This May, FOX’s reality lineup expanded once again with the introduction of the network’s newest original food programming Crime Scene Kitchen. In this new series hosted by Joel McHale, teams of chefs put their skills to the test in a series of rounds designed to showcase their technical and problem-solving skills in addition to their creativity as they work to decode and re-create incredible desserts from across the globe.

Across the nine-episode first season, Crime Scene Kitchen averaged 1.8 million viewers and a 0.45 demo making it FOX’s fourth most-watched and highest-rated series of the summer. While those numbers might seem moderate compared to your standard fall series, the show held its own across the summer maintaining its audience across the summer.

After an impressive debut season, the show’s first season wrapped on July 21 in a finale that crowned the show’s first winners. Since the finale’s broadcast, fans have been anxiously awaiting news on the show’s future in wondering whether FOX has renewed or canceled the show.

Is Crime Scene Kitchen season 2 happening?

So is Crime Scene Kitchen season 2 happening? Maybe. We say maybe because FOX has not yet announced whether it will be bringing the baking competition series back for a second season thus leaving the show’s fate very much up in the air.

Considering how well the show paired with MasterChef: Legends throughout the summer in maintaining most of its lead-in audience, one has to imagine FOX would be interested in trying to recreate that magic again next summer.

The good news is that FOX seems to be very much considering a renewal for the series with Deadline reporting that no official decision has been made regarding the show’s future just yet.
