  • Blood Sausage

While the name might be a little outlandish, the taste of this particular sausage is delicious. Often a more intense, robust flavor, this style of sausage is quite popular in Europe. When made correctly, blood sausage is incredibly delicious. Instead of focusing on the name, try a taste. That flavor could convince you to overlook that intimidating name.

    Fish Eggs

Have you ever had some sushi that has roe? That roe is fish eggs. While the word caviar or fish eggs might be off-putting, the flavor is quite delicious. Those little pearls of saltiness can be a huge pop of flavor to a dish. Why not focus on flavor, not the name.

    Crickets

In many other countries, insects are common foods. This food is a great source of protein. Still, many Americans would prefer not to eat an insect. Even though several companies sell flavored, dried crickets as a snack, it can be a little much to munch on these foods.

Instead, try the chips Chirps Chips. These chips are made with ground crickets. Truthfully, if you didn’t know that these chips had ground crickets, you would get tons. I did a taste test with my kids and they were happy to eat these new “protein” chips.

    Spam

The meat in a can often can come with “that face.” While some people balk at Spam, it isn’t that bad. Truthfully, Hawaiians have been using Spam in many creative ways for decades. Even Epcot Food and Wine has a Spam dish on the menu.

The key with Spam is to find a dish that incorporates the flavor. Hash is probably one of the best ways to use this ingredient. Can anything be bad when served with yummy fried potatoes?

    Octopus

While many people are fine with fried calamari, eating a big piece of octopus can be a little intimating. Maybe it is those little suction cups that make people a little squeamish. Truthfully, when prepared well, octopus is quite enjoyable.

The key to a tasty octopus is for the meat to be tender. It takes proper cooking, usually lengthy cooking, to make it perfect. Once you have a delicious bite, you will never overlook it again.
