A space-themed restaurant is coming to Epcot at Walt Disney World: Here’s what we know so far

This month, the Disney Parks Blog announced an out-of-this-world addition coming to Epcot in 2019 – a space-themed restaurant with a stellar wine list and internationally-inspired cuisine.

In addition to visiting attractions like Spaceship Earth and Mission: SPACE, fans of the extraterrestrial elements of Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort will soon be able to grab a meal at a space-themed restaurant, slated to open some time in 2019.

According to the Disney Parks Blog, the restaurant will be a table-service (sit-down) dining experience, located near Epcot’s Mission: SPACE attraction in Future World at Epcot.  It appears that the restaurant the restaurant “will invite guests to travel to space for an amazing dining experience in the stars.”

The new dining destination will be operated by Patina Restaurant Group, which manages two other restaurants at Epcot: Via Napoli Ristorante E Pizzeria and Tutto Italia Ristorante. Additionally, the restaurant group is affiliated with several Disney Springs restaurants, like Maria & Enzo’s. But, the new restaurant’s menu won’t only serve Italian-inspired dishes.

Disney Parks Blog describes the restaurant’s offerings as ” a menu that features internationally-inspired cuisine, more than 1,000 bottles of the world’s finest wines and a wide selection of craft beer.” Based on this description, the menu could be quite diverse.

The new addition to Epcot will be headed by executive chef Theo Schoenegger, who previously worked as executive chef at Sinatra – an Italian fine dining restaurant in Las Vegas. That restaurant featured menu items that paid tribute to the musical icon, Frank Sinatra.

Schoenegger has a background in French and Italian cuisines. During his tenure at the restaurant Patina, he earned a Michelin star as well as a 4-star review and a Relais & Châteaux rating. Recently, he was the executive chef at Maria & Enzo’s.
