The Great Food Truck Race sprint toward the racing mecca in Daytona, Florida. Will these food trucks find the checkered flag or veer off into the pits?

Ready, set, roll out. The Great Food Truck Race heads south to Daytona, Florida and the historic Daytona International Speedway. Will this racing mecca serve as winning inspiration or will the food trucks veer off course?

According to the Food Network, this week’s episode, “Fast and Furious” synopsis states:

"The seven remaining teams race toward the checkered flag of the Daytona International Speedway as Tyler Florence welcomes the food trucks to Florida. Tyler hits the teams with a doughnut-making challenge that could make or break them. A shrimp challenge on day two tests the teams, but with one team losing members unexpectedly and another incurring a health code violation, Daytona becomes anyone’s race to win."

Looking at the first challenge, a doughnut-making challenge could be the highlight of the whole episode. Doughnuts continue to be a hot food trend. It will be curious to see how these food trucks offer a creative spin on doughnuts.

Truthfully, Nola Creations should have an edge in this challenge. Making beignets isn’t too far from making doughnuts. Hopefully, they come up with another twist on something New Orleans inspired by quite tasty.

Also, Baby Got Mac should do well in this challenge. They have found ways to be quite creative in the competition. While mac and cheese is the wheelhouse, they have a vast amount of culinary knowledge and skills.

For the second challenge, the shrimp challenge should be difficult for Sol Food Collective. The vegan food truck will likely skip this challenge with their choice to be solely plant based. It will be curious to see how that decision effects the outcome.

Lastly, a health code violation is quite scary. That type of issue isn’t often addressed on this Food Network show but it is part of running a food business. Let’s hope that it isn’t one of those Restaurant Impossible scary moments.
