5 Thanksgiving side dishes that do not belong on the dinner table
By Brian Miller
Potatos are one of the main side dishes on Thanksgiving but potato salad is not.
It can be 100 degrees outside and you could be hosting your Thanksgiving dinner on your patio or for that matter at a neighborhood park, that is still not an excuse to serve guests or even your kids a gooey mayonnaise laced potato salad, or any potato salad for that matter.
There are literally a hundred dishes you can make with potatoes that would be a perfect fit around that bird you slaved over from the wee hours of the morning, that bird you could easily cry over if it doesn’t turn out perfect, that bird that is the star of your table that takes center stage. Why ruin that hard work and attention with…potato salad?
Potato salad is really good but it is served alongside hot dogs and hot dogs are not in the same “ballpark” as a slaved over turkey that is massaged and basted for hours. I simply can’t see why you would give so much attention to that juicy turkey to simply sit it next to a hot dog side dish. Leave it off your table and save it for summer!
Potatoes can be prepared in so many different ways from stuffed skins to twice baked, heck we won’t even bother to debate the age-old question of whether mashed taters should be lumpy or silky smooth, with so many options why dumb down your dinner table? Don’t, take the time, make the mash, and delight your guests!
