F*ck, That’s Delicious: An Annotated Guide to Eating Well by Action Bronson ($18.93)
“Barehanded snatch up a octopus I’m a winner/Grill it, hit it with olive oil and lemon/Then kiss my fingers, efharisto that was delicious”. — “It Concerns Me” by Action Bronson from Blue Chips 2.
Action Bronson is well known for his striking wordplay, and in particular his references to food. Though now somewhat reversed, the wordsmith was once a gourmet chef who rapped on the side. Returning to his culinary roots, Bronson’s cookbook features recipes inspired by his childhood, family, tours, and travels.
This is not a traditional cookbook in the sense that it has very basic foods and favorites ranging up to more complicated variations of food from various cultures. Also, it is a compilation of both recipes and stories about growing up and travel. I absolutely love AB and have watched all of his shows on Viceland. He’s unique, unapologetic, laid back, and open to food as an experience. I grew up in New Jersey outside of New York City and his attitude and the food he highlights just remind me so much of home. I would like to see more cookbooks written like this – genuine. — tcs112
