Move over lattes, because two Dairy Queen Fall favorites are coming back to the restaurant menu. Although there isn’t a new Blizzard for the season, many people are excited to dig into these returning classics with that red spoon.

According to Dairy Queen, both the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat and the Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake are back for a limited time. Coming soon in early September, these two desserts will be at participating restaurants. Just like the leaves that change color, it is best to enjoy a taste before these desserts disappear again.

If people don’t remember, the Pumpkin Pie Blizzard Treat features “real pumpkin pie pieces and creamy vanilla soft serve, crowned with whipped topping and a sprinkle of nutmeg.” Truthfully, that touch of nutmeg really enhances the eating experience. Since pumpkin pie is all about the spices, that aroma and taste makes it quite enjoyable.

Also, many people like the pie pieces. In some ways, each spoonful is another adventure. But, this Blizzard flavor does beg the question why didn’t Dairy Queen offer a new twist on the fall favorite? From a scoop of chocolate chips to some pecans, there could have been some easy additions to give the classic pumpkin pie a little makeover.

Pumpkin Cookie Butter Shake is the other returning menu item. Last year, this dessert was a huge hit. Those ground cinnamon spice cookies with pumpkin puree were a great alternative to pumpkin pie. It hit all the warm, comforting flavors in just a single sip.

This dessert begs the question, why isn’t there more cookie butter options on the Dairy Queen menu. Many people love that cookie flavor and it is different from cookie dough. Maybe a cookie butter Blizzard could be on the horizon.
