MyMcDonald’s FANnual Report reveals what guests really order

In 2021, McDonald’s guests showed their love for the iconic quick service restaurant. To celebrate the success of the MyMcDonald’s Rewards program, the MyMcDonald’s FANnual Report gives a glimpse of most redeemed foods, favorite orders and a few of tasty tidbits that will have people craving another bite.

Over the past year, McDonald’s has looked to find creative ways to connect with its guests. From the celebrity menus that showcased everyone has a favorite McDonald’s order to new menu items that reignited the love of a brand, there was always another reason to place a food order.

When the MyDonald’s Rewards began, many people appreciated that their loyalty came with benefits. From food rewards to various offers, the program makes it easy to order and order often.

As Alycia Mason, Vice President of Digital Customer Experience & Media, McDonald’s USA said, “Our fans have been showing us their loyalty long before the launch of MyMcDonald’s Rewards, for 66 years to be exact! So, as we wrap up the year, we want to thank each and every one of them for joining us in our loyalty journey. As we look ahead to 2022, we’re so excited to see MyMcDonald’s Rewards continue to grow, and keep rewarding fans with what they love most.”

What does the MyMcDonald’s FANnual Report say was the most redeemed food?

Sometimes learning about guests’ favorite orders is helpful for a quick service restaurant. If people crave an extra order of fries with that Big Mac, that information is important to crafting a menu that everyone prefers.

According to the recent report, those World Famous Fries were a popular choice. Over 2.4 million orders of those French fries were redeemed. While that number is impressive, it equates to 360 tons of fries, which is “more than three times the weight” of the Bean (the Cloud Gate sculpture in Millennium Park.

While French fries were popular, it wasn’t the only food on the list. From McChicken to Frappes to even Happy Meals, many people appreciated the ability to choose their preferred reward. That customization had everyone loving it.

Looking ahead, it will be interesting to see how McDonald’s leverages its reward program even more. From free food to special promotions, that app will be front and center on the home screen.
