While the brackets are set and March Madness is set to become the focal point, some teams are going to the big dance and others are planning a run for next year. One team that is looking to make a splash is the Reese’s Ultimate Basketball team and Reese’s University is ready to start recruiting.

For many people sports and college go hand in hand. While some people wear their college’s colors proudly while on the playing field, others cheer loudly from the stands. Being part of the team is more than just making that winning shot. It is that sense of college pride, community and togetherness that makes college memories so strong.

At Reese’s University, the community connection is more than just a love of the game or the delight in wearing the orange colors proudly. It is an appreciation of all things Reese’s and how that salty, sweet peanut butter surrounded by chocolate can make anyone cheer in delight.

What is the Reese’s Ultimate Basketball team?

When people think of trying out for a basketball team, they often think of a skills test. Who can make the outside shot, what is the best way to defend the pick and roll, or who is the clutch player to get the ball in their hands? With this basketball team, the idea isn’t about court skills.

According to Reese’s University, the requirement to join this team is the name. It is all about the Reese, Rease or Reece.

Now through March 23, anyone who is a “Reese” or has a connection to a “Reese” can enter to become part of the Reese’s Ultimate Basketball team. While the contest rules are specific, there are many ways to make that connection. Basically, everyone can and should try out.

As Peter Buttercup, athletic director, Reese’s University, said, “Basketball skills can be learned, but greatness – that has to come from within. Whether you’re a Reese, Reece, Rhys or Riess that can (or cannot) dribble a ball or, better yet, toss a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup into your mouth, try out for the chance to become part of the greatest basketball team there ever will be.”

Although the Fighting Cuppies might never make the big dance, there hoop dreams come in a different variety. It is about making that connection, fostering that bond and cheering for all things Reese.
