As the final four prepare the next round of recipes, The Great American Recipe episode 7 focuses on family and friends. From a dish passed down through the generations to a new tradition growing from the experience, this table will be filled with delicious moments.

According to PBS, The Great American Recipe episode 7, “Family,” features the following:

"Celebrate family as the four remaining cooks prepare two dishes inspired by their friends and families. Whether it’s a neighbor’s lasagna or a dish passed down from grandma, the judges are in for some heartfelt food."

At this point in the season, some of the home cooks have hit their stride. For example, Robin might have flown under the radar in the beginning but she has soared with her recent dishes. From her Brazilian Moqueca to a riff on Foo’s white fish, Robin has come into her own.

In some ways, Robin’s evolution seems to capture one of the key elements to being a successful home cook. It isn’t necessarily where you begin, but rather the journey that you take. Gathering all the experiences together into a recipe can make it even more flavorful.

With just four home cooks remaining, the judges are looking to see how they have grown. In this exclusive clip provided to FoodSided, the cooks’ recipe choices are coming into play.

Foo has been a great example of a cook who has been listening and adapting to the judges’ feedback. Whether it is adding a fried egg to this dish or being more aggressive with his seasoning, all that advice has helped elevate his dishes. It could be an advantage for him going further in the competition.

At the same time, the home cooks cannot lose sight of who they are and the flavors that make them unique. While Silva might want to step a little out of her lane, the judges have become accustomed to her bold seasoning. If her dish hits flat, it might not be as successful as it could be.

In the end, the real story of this episode is that food brings people together. Everyone sitting at a table can be family. Sharing stories, finding a commonality, and enjoying the moment is a memory that lasts far longer than the food on the plate. That sentiment might be the real recipe that everyone will want to pass on.

The Great American Recipe episode 7 “Family” airs on PBS Friday, August 5 at 9 p.m. It can also be streamed online.
