I don't know about you but the one thing I don't necessarily want near my lips when I'm seeking a balm or touch-up is something spicy, so I'm not sure I'm the target audience for something like the new limited-time Burt's Bees x Mike's Hot Honey collection. But I can see the appeal of a novelty item like this one and why consumers might be drawn to try it, especially if you're a fan of the sweet x spicy tango of flavors.
The two popular companies, Burt's Bees and Mike's Hot Honey released their special moisturizing lip balm on May 29. It is exclusively being sold on the official Burtsbees.com and through the company's TikTok shop.
In the press release, this combo is described as a way to create a new formula that provides "soft lips with a kick." But all i can think about is if I was eating hot wings and accidentally grabbed this to slather on my lips afterward, might not be the most fun experience.
Currently, the limited edition item is retailing for $3.99, which seems like a fair price to met, especially if you end up not enjoying the spicy/sweet sensation. They are being sold in limited quantities, with only three per order and they will only remain on sale as long as supplies last, so if you are interested, I recommend ordering it sooner than later!
I've checked out a couple of different reviewers to see what the vibe is for this particular lip balm flavor and one TikToker, @brittmarie.x, received a PR package from the company. She tries on the balm and says it tastes and leans more into the honey flavor than spice, but did add that after having it on her lips for a little while it got "slightly spicy."
You'd think that with the added spice, the lip balm would at least plump your lips a bit, but it is a non-plumping formula!
Burt's Bees is a very popular natural brand known for using ingredients from nature. I'm a fan of their lip balms, though I usually go for sweeter flavors like Pomegranate, Watermelon, and their refreshing Cucumber Mint.
As for Mike's Hot Honey, that's one I cannot comment on too much as I'm a big baby when it comes to spices. That said, they are a beloved brand and the leaders of hot honey, making a great addition to any pizza, chicken dish, charcuterie, and even desserts like ice cream!
Discussing the recent collab, Burt's Bees general manager Nick Higgins says they wanted to create "something playful and flavor-forward" for the summer.
