Summer will officially arrive this Friday, June 20, alongside the summer solstice. Dairy Queen is celebrating this change in seasons with the release of a new flavor.
On Monday, Dairy Queen announced that its latest Blizzard flavor, Oreo Dirt Pie, would become available beginning on the first day of summer and it is the company's first-ever digital exclusive, meaning you'll only be able to get it by ordering it first through the Dairy Queen app or the official DQ.com website.
Availability may be limited depending on the location, but you should be able to check through the website and app to figure out if it's being sold by you.
The Oreo Dirt Pie Blizzard includes a base of the company's world-famous vanilla soft serve and mixes in real Oreo cookie pieces, gummy worms, and a blend of fudgy crumbles.
This particular Blizzard is advertised as a new flavor in the lineup but it has been on the Dairy Queen menu in the past several years. When it first debuted, it was hailed as one of Dairy Queen's best Blizzards and has been dubbed a fan-favorite by many, so I'm sure people will be happy to have this delicious nostalgic treat return to locations near them.
Dairy Queen has several other popular dessert flavors on the menu for summer, including the S'mores Blizzard, Cotton Candy Blizzard, Superman Blizzard, and the Mixing Bowl Mashup Blizzard.
Dirt Pie was also recently on the Crumbl Cookie menu. It's a beloved combination that people continue to enjoy, especially because it takes many of us back to our childhoods. The tasty treat traditionally includes chocolate pudding along with cookie crumbles used as dirt and a few well-placed gummy worms to add the finishing touch. This Blizzard is a play on that, replacing the pudding with soft serve.
After becoming available on June 20, the Oreo Dirt Blizzard is slated to remain on the menu for a limited time only and, as previously noted, is available only through digital order.
