Paris Hilton's pizza 'life hack' is kind of gross

Paris Hilton raised more than a few eyebrows last month when she shared a TikTok video of her pizza "life hack." The method involves taking the slice of pizza and putting it cheese-side down on the top of the box to pat down and get some of the oil and grease off of it.

The idea of removing pizza grease isn't anything new, but the idea of putting your pizza on the outside of the pizza box is kind of gross. At the very least, you would think Hilton would use the inside of the box, which hasn't been touched by countless hands or potentially sitting on the floor/any other storage space.

One commenter was suitably shocked, writing, "On the OUTSIDE of the box ?? girl use the inside it is more absorbent and cleaner," capping off their comment with a crying emoji.

Another person asked why she didn't just use a paper towel to dab it, which was my first thought since that's what I usually do. I can't stop thinking about how much dirt there probably is on the top of the pizza box.

But the Cooking with Paris star was undeterred. She recently attended the Tribeca Festival in New York City and a representative from People asked her about the video and their concern over the dirty cardboard surface.

"It was a brand new pizza box, so it wasn't from some random place."

Hilton claims the box had been used during a recent photo shoot. But still, the idea of it being a "hack" suggests it's something she does frequently. Maybe this box was pretty clean (although it was still, presumably, sitting outside for a bit), but what about the other times she eats pizza and employs her method?

To be fair, the pizza in question was from Joe's Pizza, which is a revered location famous for its perfect New York-style slice. It's considered an institution in Greenwich Village, having been open for almost 50 years. You can't really go wrong with Joe's, even with a little dirt on it.

The celebrity/actress was in attendance at the festival to promote her new movie The Trainer, which she stars in with Bella Thorne, Julia Fox, and Vito Schnabel. It's a dark comedy from director Tony Kaye about a fitness expert who discovers a surprising opportunity for fame and fortune when a shopping network shows interest in his product, the Heavy Hat.
