Zoli’s NY Pizza: Quirky decor, serious pizza

Last week, FoodSided was invited to join Chef Lee Hunzinger at Zoli’s NY Pizza for a Media Dinner. The special guests were round and square pizza pies, salads, pasta, and other tasty dishes! Needless to say, no one left hungry!

The pizza spot in Addison is open for business, featuring a quirky decor (which Star Wars fans in particular will love) and some serious pizza — whether you prefer a good ol’ cheese pizza or like to stack on the toppings!

The Atmosphere

The image above serves as evidence of Zoli’s Pizza’s quirky decor. Every way you turn, there’s a Star Wars character, unicorn, or fun sign staring back at you. The lights are dim, but the room sparkles thanks to colorful bulbs surrounding the restaurant. There’s also always something about having fresh flowers at the table, it’s a small little detail that is highly appreciated and a cute touch.

Friendly Service

Sure, it’s a Media Dinner, the staff is at it’s best. But you can’t fake good service, it’s something one can easily pick up, especially when Media Dinners and restaurant reviews are something you do often. Our servers were highly knowledgeable of the menu, offering recommendations, suggestions, and checked in with us at the perfect times.

Drinks

I went for something on the sweet side, a Rose Frose. If that’s not to your taste there are plenty of other drink options in the large drink menu, from wines, drafts, and specialty cocktails. All of them reasonably priced.

Our top 5 favorites are:

#5 Garlic Knots: Over-sized garlic bread in Schmutz, Parsley, and Pecorino. They have a spicy kick.

#4 Nuggz: Fried Mozzarella balls with Marinara dipping sauce. Zoli’s has perfected this traditional appetizer.

#3 Meatball Parm: A meatball sub sandwich like you’ve never tasted before. It consists of pork and beef meatballs, tomato sauce and mozzarella, and cherry pepper aioli. It’s a messy dish (the best foods always are) but it’s so worth it.

#2 Spangler: A classic cheese pizza pie. Toasty, sturdy, and soft in all the right places.

#1 Christian Pescroni: Say what you want, pepperoni pizza is the best. The Christian Pescroni is every pepperoni pizza lover’s dream, topped with double pepperoni, jalapeno pesto, and mozzarella sauce.
