  • A quick search of any food website will bring many suggestions for dinner recipes. From the one pot wonders to the elaborate, chef-driven creations, everyone has a suggestion for your next meal. As a busy parent, with student athletes, our family dinners need to be quick, nutritious and filling. Truth be told, my kids eat double the amount of food than I do (and sometimes they are still hungry).

When it comes to dinner, a meal that balances proteins and carbs is key. While my kids happily eat salad and vegetables (yes it’s an anomaly), sometimes they would rather have those vegetables added to something really tasty. A casserole is a great way to incorporate proteins, carbs and vegetables all in one dish.

Recently, I came across this ham and cheddar casserole recipe by Boar’s Head. With minimal prep work and effort, this tasty dinner can be on the table in under an hour. Plus, the recipe comes family friendly ingredients like cheese, pasta and ham.

Ham, like the Boar’s Head sweet slice boneless smoked ham, is a great choice for this type of easy casserole because it doesn’t require an additional cooking step. The richness of flavor from the smoke adds depth to the casserole. The sweet and smoke are balanced by the creaminess of the cheese. All in all, it’s hard not to eat a second helping of this casserole.
