  • Just in time for this weekend’s Kentucky Derby, Angry Orchard has created a special rose cocktail inspired by the iconic mint julep. This Rosé Cider Julep features the Angry Orchard Rosé. This version of the company’s cider is crisp, yet tart flavor. Made from red flesh apples, this cider isn’t quite as sweet as the traditional Fiji apple flavored cider. While not a rose wine, the pretty pink color and bubbles make it a fun beverage to enjoy.

As the official hard cider of the 144th Kentucky Derby, Angry Orchard asked Angry Orchard mixologist partner Jeremy Oertel to create a special cocktail for the annual event. The Rosé Cider Julep is perfect for the ladies who will be wearing those iconic hats. While still having some flavor notes of a traditional mint julep, this cocktail is lighter, both in flavor and alcohol content. Still, that doesn’t mean anyone should be over-served. No one wants to lose a hat on Derby Day.

If you like the mint flavor, but don’t want a heavy bourbon flavor, this cocktail does a lovely job of balancing the robust liquor. Plus, the cocktail is pink and who doesn’t like a pink cocktail.
