Food Network to debut Molly Yeh show, Girl Meets Farm

Molly Yeh, food blogger and cookbook author, brings her unique food perspective to the new series Girl Meets Farm debuting this summer on Food Network.

With her popular blog, my name is yeh, Molly Yeh has loyal fans who enjoy her creative take on modern farm living. On her new show Girl Meets Farm, Yeh will bring that sensibility to the Food Network. This summer series will give fans a glimpse into her culinary world.

According to Courtney White, Executive Vice President, Programming, Food Network and HGTV, “Molly is full of life and her unlikely journey from the big city to a food-centered life on a Midwest farm is fascinating. Her passion for food, her family and farm life are front and center in all of her recipes, which are truly written from the heart.”

The choice to add Yeh as a Food Network personality is an interesting one. She could bring a younger audience to the food channel. Her culinary point of view could show that cooking is quite approachable. Whether it is a childhood favorite food or a twist on a particular regional cuisine, Yeh could encourage more young families to get into the kitchen.

For example, many millennials could happily watch Yeh and her farm-lifestyle. But, those same viewers may not find the Pioneer Woman as appealing. Although the concept of these two programs are similar, the shows appeal to a very different audience. It is interesting how a similar concept can be re-packaged to appeal to various audiences.

It is nice to see the Food Network adding some actual cooking shows to its summer schedule. While the culinary competition shows are entertaining, some food fans appreciate cooking shows that teach. One of the reasons that fans love Best Baker in America is because the show gives some great baking tips and knowledge within the competition. Chefs cooking delicious recipes was the foundation of the network and it shouldn’t be forgotten.

The Girl Meets Farm seven episode series will premiere on June 24 at 11 A.M. The first episode focuses on a baby shower theme with some twists on classic party food.
