Can Sherman’s Restaurant find redemption on Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back or will this institution be stuck in the past?

In this week’s Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back, Sherman’s Restaurant looks to find its glory days. Can these restaurant owners find a way to capture the Southern charm without alienating the local clientele?

According to FOX, this episode synopsis states: “Gordon revamps the décor and menu of Sherman’s Restaurant, which is located in Greenville, Mississippi.”

GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK: Host Gordon Ramsay (C) with the owners and staff in the all-new “Sherman’s Restaurant” episode of GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK airing Wednesday, July 11 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. CR: FOX. © 2018 FOX Broadcasting.

This type of restaurant renovation can be tricky. Unlike previous restaurant makeovers, Greenville, Mississippi doesn’t necessarily have the hot bed food scene like New Orleans or Los Angeles. Can Ramsay’s recommendations become a hit in the smaller town?

Looking at Sherman’s Restaurant’s website, the restaurant dates back to 1947. While new owners took over in 2012, the restaurant is proud of its history. It appears that the current restaurant owners may not have had a background in the restaurant industry. That situation could be a huge issue.

Knowing how to properly price, stock and run a restaurant comes with experience. Sure, guests never want prices to go up. But, a restaurant owner can’t make a profit if he doesn’t adjust prices based on his costs? Could smarter menu choices or better shopping be the solution to this restaurant makeover?

In a smaller city, knowing your customers is key to being successful. For example, a Mississippi restaurant might not want to serve ramen. Locals may not have an interest in that style of cuisine.
Still, the restaurant’s menu needs to stay relevant. If a menu never changes, even the most loyal customers can get bored. Hopefully, Gordon can find a way to inspire yet not offend these locals.
