Throughout this first season of Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back, the restaurants seem to have similar backgrounds. These restaurants have had their moments as must visit, top ranked and even television notoriety. Over time, the owners and staff didn’t put in the effort to keep the restaurant and its food current. Those poor decisions caused the current state of sad affairs.

In this week’s episode, Gordon takes on La Serenata. Formerly with two locations in Los Angeles, these owners have been around since 1985. According to their website, the owner was known as the “Maestro de Salsas.” The locations were featured on Bobby Flay’s Flavor Nation. How could that restaurant fall so far?
According to Yelp reviews, the restaurant’s approval ratings dropped in the end of 2016 and the beginning of 2017. It seems that service was often a problem. Even if food is stellar, guests won’t return to a restaurant with bad service.
Also, a Mexican seafood restaurant can sometimes be a difficult sell. People don’t often want to spend a lot of money for Mexican food. The cost per serving size can be debated by owners and guests. Truthfully, not everyone is always going to be happy.

Looking at the current website, it seems that the restaurant now focuses on street tacos. That idea is a good one, but the menu seems more focused sauces and lots of entrees. I don’t see the street tacos, but maybe they don’t have the current menu list.
Can Gordon work his magic again? It seems that La Serenata is up and running in Los Angeles. Have you been recently? Share your thoughts with us.
