The Great Food Truck Race Season 9 episode 5 brings the teams to Coachella Valley. While these food trucks aren’t there to listen to music and attend parties, the three remaining teams must impress with the culinary creations. Only two food trucks will move onto the finale.
According to the Food Network, this week’s episode synopsis states:
"The final three teams head to Coachella Valley in Southern California ahead of a massive country music festival; Tyler Florence educates the team on locally grown Medjool dates; each food truck must create and sell an original date dish."
The Medjool dates challenge might be difficult for Just Wing It. The primarily chicken wing truck doesn’t always have extra ingredients that make these cooking challenges easy. While dates are a wonderful natural sugar component to many recipes, it might not be the best pairing for chicken wings. For this truck to create an original date dish could be a stretch of their cooking abilities.

Additionally, these date dishes could have some creativity. If everyone does a bacon wrapped date, that dish is boring and expected. Hopefully, the competition has some element of creativity or taste factor instead of just sales.
Most likely, Mobile Moo Shu should excel in the date dish challenge. Their cooking style would complement dates. Also, they have a variety of spices that could enhance a date dish.
But, given this date challenge is only part of the competition. With a country music festival in town, Just Wing It should do well. Concert goers love chicken wings. Plus, this team has a lot of personality. Don’t count them out just yet.
