The Great Food Truck Race Season 9 finale has Just Wing It competing against New England Grill. Who will prevail?

The end is here. Which food truck will win The Great Food Truck Race Season 9 finale? Throughout the season, both of these food trucks have had both ups and downs. Could either team win? The simple answer is yes.

According to the Food Network, the synopsis for The Great Food Truck Race Season 9 finale states:

"The final two teams head back to Los Angeles, where Tyler Florence welcomes them to the historic Pueblo de Los Angeles, the epicenter of LA’s Mexican heritage and culture."

At the beginning of this season, the food trucks had a dismissal first week. No one even broke even on week one. It will be interesting to see how far these food trucks have come in just a matter of weeks. Hopefully, both teams succeed.

  • While the synopsis doesn’t discuss this week’s challenges, the episode title could give a glimpse of a food challenge. If both teams have to create an enchilada to sell, Just Wing It could be at a disadvantage. That team focuses just on wings. While the concept is strong, these specific dish challenges are hard for them to incorporate into their food truck menu. It is confusing for the consumer.

Thinking about New England Grill, an enchilada challenge would be in their wheel house. They make a shrimp quesadilla often. Turning that recipe into an enchilada would be a slam dunk.

Beyond a specific dish challenge, this week should focus on sales. The teams will need to understand where to sell and how much to price their dishes. Los Angeles is a savvy food truck city. These consumers aren’t going to buy just because it is something new or different. They want delicious, smart food.
