Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 3 preview: Gizzy can’t cook fish?
In this week’s exclusive Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 3 preview, confident Gizzy gets a rude awakening on the fish station.
Ready for Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 3? After last week’s departure of Scott, the first chef to be eliminated this season, the rookies are still adapting to Gordon Ramsay and Hell’s Kitchen. From the barking orders to the uncertain cook times, the rookies are in the weeds. Will this episode bring more kitchen disasters?
In Hell’s Kitchen Season 18 episode 3, the episode is split into two parts. According to FOX, the synopsis for the episode states:
"The chefs serve lunch to a room full of Marines, preparing dishes that represent the air, the land and the sea; a dramatic dinner serve ends with a contestant walk-out."
First, the Marine luncheon should be a feel good moment for this episode. The nation’s service men and women deserve a delicious meal. Looking at the meal’s theme, it will be interesting to see how the dishes reflect air, land and sea. While a few ideas are obvious, I hope that the food has some interesting twists.

Additionally, the chefs should want to put their differences aside in this challenge. Since the meal celebrates the Marines, the chefs should want to plate exquisite dishes. Hopefully everyone is on point in this challenge.
Although the first portion of the episode should be positive, and relatively happy, the Hell’s Kitchen dinner service should serve the drama. In this exclusive clip from FOX, it looks like Gizzy and Team Rookies are still struggling in the kitchen.
Looking at this clip, a couple of items stand out. First, Gizzy did overcook the fish. But, the reason for her poor cook isn’t necessarily totally her fault. It doesn’t seem to be just a blatant cooking error.
One of the biggest components to a well-run kitchen is communication. In this clip, Scotley is not communicating effectively with Gizzy. Instead of focusing on his Wellington, he is meddling with Gizzy’s cook on the fish.

If Scotley had properly cooked the Beef Wellington, in the time that he stated, Gizzy’s fish wouldn’t be overcooked. She had to hold her fish for several minutes. This delay caused her fish to be over.
Personally, I think that Gizzy can cook fish correctly. Based on how upset she felt in the post interview, she understood the error and doesn’t want to continue the poor performance. Hopefully, Team Rookies can start to communicate better and complete an effective service.
Even more telling, Gizzy showed no reaction on the line. She accepted the criticism and re-grouped. That type of determination should serve her well in Hell’s Kitchen.
Overall, this clip shows that the rookies don’t know how to work with each other in the kitchen. If the line can’t push out timely food, the rookies will continue to fail. These cooks need a system, and, more importantly, need a leader.
