Netflix just released the trailer for The Final Table. Could this food competition series be better than the iconic Iron Chef?

The Final Table is poised to be must watch food television for Netflix. Filled with world-renowned chefs, this culinary competition is looking to entice foodies to binge watch episode after episode. But, can it replace the legendary culinary competition, Iron Chef?

Netflix has just released the official trailer from The Final Table. Also, the complete list of judges, chefs and culinary icons were shared. This group of culinary greats are legendary.

Looking at this video, this culinary series is poised to set itself apart in food television. Beyond the high production value, it appears that this food show focuses on mastering cuisines and their flavors. While secret ingredients and creativity is always valued, this show seems to focus on culinary supremacy.

It appears that each episode focuses on a specific country and its cuisine. While many chefs are inspired by their travels, other chefs and innovative techniques, clean, impeccable flavors must always drive a dish. If a chef can’t understand and implement a particular cuisine, she cannot consider herself a world renowned chef.

Granted most chefs specialize in a particular genre. Each of the culinary legends in this Netflix series are even known for specific dishes, let alone cuisines. Still, each one has tremendous knowledge of various countries national dishes. Without culinary knowledge and history, how can cuisine evolve?

While the specifics of competition aspect aren’t clear, some of the plated dishes seem extremely intricate. It appears that the chefs have brought their tweezers to the competition. My best guess is that cooking perfection is implied, but the chefs need to bring the creativity and beauty as well.

The caliber of judges, mentors and even contestants on this show is insane. From Michelin Stars to World’s Best, many people dream of eating a plate from one of these culinary legends. For someone to be able to sit at the table with Grant Achatz would propel their culinary career instantly.

This Netflix series seems to build on its other elevated food programs. From Chef’s Table to Ugly Delicious, the Netflix food programming takes a more elevated approach to food TV. These programs are for people who fantasize about the plated masterpiece from a culinary legend. It isn’t about kitchen drama.

While this culinary show doesn’t appear to have a secret ingredient aspect, it does have tremendous appeal to the ardent foodie. From the intricate plating to the elevated ingredients, many people will be salivating over every dish.

Although Iron Chef remains a favorite with foodies, foodies and food TV fans are looking for more, new and better. This Netflix show, with its high production value, culinary icons and beautiful plates will surely lure tons of viewers when it debuts on November 20.
