  • While pumpkin spice seems more like a fall flavor, no one can avoid that pumpkin spice. Hopefully, this pre-heat challenge has the bakers adding a new, different spin on this favorite flavor. Could the dessert have to add some extreme spice to balance that sweet pumpkin?

The main heat could become quite challenging for the bakers. A yule log is always a tempting holiday dessert. Still, that dessert is quite tricky.

Putting aside the decorative aspect, a rolled cake can spell disaster in these challenges. If the cake cracks, there is no saving the yule log. No amount of butter cream can hide a split in the yule log.

Also, the combination of flavors for this dessert could be fantastic or horrible. Classic holiday treats is a broad topic. While peppermint can be quite delightful in a dessert, eggnog could be much more tricky. The bakers will have to find the perfect balance between flavorful and not overpowering.

With nine bakers in the competition, these first couple episodes may not see big, bold desserts. Everyone wants to continue in the competition. Although a big mistake can never be overlooked, many bakers could be trying to make it till next week.
