Johnny Rockets new Sizzlin’ Bacon Maple Shake has come to the restaurant’s menu for a limited time. The perfect combination of salty and sweet, this shake could almost be a meal in itself. Available now through mid-January 2019, this shake blends “vanilla ice cream hand-spun with whole milk and maple syrup.” Then, the shake is “topped with whip cream, chocolate drizzle and strips of crispy bacon.” The combination has the right balance of sweet and salty that makes you want to dig in time and again.

Sometimes when bacon is paired with something sweet, the flavor combination often includes chocolate. Chocolate covered bacon has gone from state fair phenomena to popping up on store shelves. But, the chocolate can overpower the bacon.

Specifically, Steven Kloss, executive chef at Johnny Rockets, said “people love of bacon (honestly, who can say no?) and the sweetness of the maple offsets the saltiness of the bacon.” Truthfully, this idea is on point. Additionally, incorporating maple is on trend. Kloss said, “maple and bacon is on trend and is an adventurous combination for a shake, but it turned out to be delicious!” Looking at winter foods, maple is becoming more and more popular. While people may not be putting maple syrup on everything (like Buddy, the Elf), maple flavors are finding their way into many foods. From morning lattes to delicious desserts, maple is the flavor of the season.
