Top Chef Season 16 episode 3 preview: Is it really a holiday gift?
Top Chef Season 16 episode 3 preview has everyone in the Top Chef kitchen in the holiday spirit. But, will some of the chefs end up on the naughty list?
Top Chef Season 16 episode 3 looks to be a festive episode. As everyone prepares their own holiday feasts, the favorite Bravo food TV show has a few holiday festivities of their own. Who will get the ultimate lump of coal, being told to pack their knives and go?
According to Bravo, Top Chef Season 16 episode 3, “Naughty and Nice” synopsis states
"It’s holiday time for Top Chef, and Richard Blais and Brooke Williamson help spread the festive cheer by presenting a white elephant Quickfire challenge. Then, the Chefs receive an unexpected gift as Michelin starred super Chef Eric Ripert sits down with them to celebrate and elaborate traditional French Christmas dinner. Howeve3r, once the last bite is taken, Padma informs the Chef that they’re missing the final part of the tradition of Le Revillon de Noel… the presentation of 13 desserts. It’s a midnight pastry free-for-all as the Chefs try to avoid being placed on the naughty list."

The Quickfire challenge should be quite entertaining. Who doesn’t love a good white elephant gift exchange? Of course, this version has a big prize at the end, immunity.
Truthfully, there will be a little bit of luck and a little bit of strategy in this challenge. After the chefs had two minutes to shop for the pantry items, the boxes could be a little jumbled, unclear or even lacking ingredients. While some people might want their own box, the reality is that some chefs could have planned better than others.
The Quickfire is truly a test of adaptability. Usually it takes chefs a long time to conceptualize and perfect a dish. Although chefs need to think on their feet. This challenge is best suited for the well-rounded chefs.
For the Elimination Challenge, the chefs will face one of the dishes that has caused the downfall of many Top Chef contestants. The dreaded dessert challenge could see some of the best chefs stumble. Plus, working in the house kitchen, in tight surroundings could add to the pressure.
Even though these chefs usually focus on savory dishes, each chef should have at least one dessert concept that can be done fairly well in the competition. If a chef didn’t come prepared with at least one dessert, that chef doesn’t deserve to be in this competition.
