McKenzie Westmore is passionate about good food for her four-legged family members
McKenzie Westmore might have made her mark in Passions and Face Off, but the right food for her four-legged family members is her current passion.
Whether you are a fan of Syfy’s Face Off or you loved Passions, McKenzie Westmore is passionate about good food for her four-legged family members. Many people consider their dogs, cats and other animals to be integral parts of their family. Given that belief, it is important that everyone have good food at the dinner table.
On January 1, 2019 Animal Planet will be airing AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin. While the various dog breeds will be competing to see which breed will earn the ultimate title, a few celebrities are voicing their breed loyalty. Each breed (and their celebrity parents) are encouraging everyone to show their breed pride.
With #TeamDog, everyone can cheer for their favorite breed. People are encouraged to share a picture of their favorite breed with the hashtag and tagging Royal Canin. For example, people can join Mario Lopez and his French Bulldog “Julio Cesar Chavez Lopez” to show their love of the Non-Sporting Group and #TeamFrenchie. Or, maybe you’re like Pro Football Hall of Famer Marcus Allen and love Wheaten Terries, like “Zoey” who is representing the Terrier Group and #TeamWheaten.
While everyone has a favorite breed and loves their four-legged family members, the best food for those fur babies is imperative. Just like the best food can make your life better, good food can make your four-legged family members have their best life.
In anticipation of the AKC National Championship Presented by Royal Canin, FoodSided chatted with McKenzie Westmore about the food that she feeds her Greyhound, Asha. The greyhound breed is perfect for her family because they are a very active family yet enjoy their downtime, which is the lifestyle perfect for a greyhound.

McKenzie Westmore shared her thoughts about the best food for Asha.
Cristine Struble: Many people consider their dogs a four-legged member of the family, does your dog eat as well as or better than you?
McKenzie Westmore: She definitely eats as well as us! It doesn’t get better than Royal Canin for my dogs and cat!!
CS: Do you think that people should feed their dogs scraps from the table or food as they are preparing dinner?
MW: Personally I don’t do that. First, you don’t know what might upset their digestive tract. Second, it sets up bad habits for begging.
CS: Has your dog ever stolen food from the table, counter etc.? If so, what was it?
MW: Omg, yes! My cat and dog have. I’m pretty sure they’ve tag-teamed! It’s usually some form of meat they grab. I’m very careful to not leave food out so they aren’t tempted especially chocolate, grapes & raisins which can all be very awful for them!
CS: Does your dog have a favorite food? Is it something unusual?
MW: Other than her stand-by Royal Canin food (large breed, for a large dog!), she loves Greenies! They’re green, toothbrush-shaped treats that are perfect to help her teeth. Greyhounds & Italian greyhounds are known to have bad teeth, so these are a great treat that are healthy.
CS: What’s the most indulgent item that you’ve ever bought your dog?
MW: Every time I go to Starbucks she gets what’s called a Pup-o-chino J
