Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back: Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar

Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back looks to save the family restaurant, Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar. Can the celebrity chef inspire some needed improvements?

Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back heads to Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar in Waterbury, Connecticut for this restaurant intervention. While this family wants this local institution to remain relevant, will the owner, head chef and staff find a good way to communicate?

According to FOX, the synopsis for this week’s Gordon Ramsay’s 24 Hours to Hell and Back episode states:

"Gordon Ramsay’s “Hell On Wheels” travels to Vasi’s, a family-owned Italian restaurant located in Waterbury, CT. After intense investigation and surveillance, Chef Ramsay and his team discover a disconnect between the restaurant’s owner and head chef that’s inhibiting any updates the restaurant may need. Ramsay will try to bring this failing restaurant back from the brink of disaster – all in just 24 hours. As the clock ticks down, Ramsay and his team transform this restaurant with a spectacular renovation, a fresh new menu and hope for the future in the all-new “Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar” episode of GORDON RAMSAY’S 24 HOURS TO HELL AND BACK airing Wednesday, Jan. 16 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

Similar to other 24 Hours to Hell and Back episodes, the communication in the restaurant seems to be non-existent. When all parts of the restaurant cannot work together, the restaurant is set to fail. How can these people find some common ground?

After reading some background on Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar, this restaurant has a long history in the area. Whether it is a favorite date night or a family dinner, many people seemed to life this local establishment. Still, any good restaurant needs a breadth of fresh air.

Fox released the following preview clip for this week’s episode.

Without a lot of background on this clip, it can be assumed that the woman who is Ramsay’s match is vital to the restaurant. Since Vasi’s Restaurant and Bar is a family run establishment, this chef must be integral to the business. The big question on the table is why does she feel compelled to leave.

Sometimes chefs can get set in a comfortable zone. Change, even when it is for the best, can be overwhelming. While this chef might be frustrated, she needs to channel that frustration into something positive. No one wants an angry chef in a kitchen.

Looking at the restaurant’s current website and reviews, it seems like the restaurant had a successful makeover. Guests like the new décor. The menu seems to be on point. Overall, this episode should have a happy ending.

One aspect that hopefully is portrayed in this episode is the owner’s family story. Looking on the restaurant’s about page, there is a lengthy explanation about family and why it is important to the owners. Additionally, it addresses a concept that many restaurant owners know too well, commitment.

A restaurant is another member of the family. Sometimes it takes precedent over other family commitments. Vacations disappear; birthdays can be missed. Finding the balance between work and life is difficult in the restaurant industry.
