New Orleans Saints serving special New Orleans style dishes for Sunday’s game
Can New Orleans style dishes bring the New Orleans Saints a berth to the Super Bowl? If you’re attending Sunday’s game, bring a big appetite.
Just for the New Orleans Saints playoff game, the stadium will be serving some New Orleans style dishes for the big game. While many people will be fixated on each important play during the NFC Championship Game, the four special menu items could tempt fans away the gridiron.
Since the NFC Championship Game is an important game for the Saints, Centerplate, who services the food for the Superdome, has created four special New Orleans style dishes just for this championship game. Win or lose on the field, everyone will be cheering for these amazing dishes.
According to Centerplate, the four special New Orleans style dishes are:

- Beat LA BBQ Pulled Pork Bowl: Creamy stone-ground grits, slow-smoked bourbon pulled pork, BBQ Chow Chow, topped with crispy onion straws
- Pigskin Po’Boy: Smoked sausage, braised pork belly and onions, topped with BBQ Chow Chow and micro-greens
- Fleur de Lis Crab Cake Sandwich: Pan-seared crab cake, pickled mirliton slaw, baby arugula, special “Who Dat” sauce, served with kettle chips
- Alligator BLT and Kettle Chips: Gourmet fried alligator BLT stacked on ciabatta bread, lettuce, tomatoes, crispy bacon, fried green tomatoes, Cajun mayonnaise, served with kettle chips
These four dishes represent some of the biggest, boldest flavors that make New Orleans cuisine delicious. From Chow Chow to fried green tomatoes, these dishes should definitely make the local fans excited to cheer the Saints to victory.
While some people might be able to eat all four dishes, others might have to prioritize one dish over another. Although I haven’t personally tried any of these dishes, I would recommend the Alligator BLT with Kettle Chips followed closely by the Fleur de Lis Crab Cake Sandwich.
First, the Alligator BLT and Kettle Chips is a winner because who can resist fried alligator. The acid from the fried green tomatoes should nicely balance the gator and bacon. Additionally, the Cajun mayonnaise sounds quite intriguing. I might have to borrow that idea for my next BLT.
Second, the Fleur de Lis Crab Cake Sandwich is a must try because of the “Who Dat” sauce. While I have no idea what type of sauce this is, I want to try it. My guess is that the sauce is some type of remoulade, but I could be wrong. If someone tries this dish, please send a picture or describe the sauce.
Truthfully, I don’t think that anyone could go wrong with any of these dishes. All of them sound scrumptious. The only question that is left for debate would be which beer to pair with each dish. Having a tasty beverage is always important.
