Toast the Grammy Awards with Ed Sheeran’s favorite whisky

Ready for the Grammy Awards? Ed Sheeran’s favorite whisky could be the perfect libation to celebrate all the winning artists.

Do you know Ed Sheeran’s favorite whisky? Actually, he wears his favorite whisky on his arm, literally. Tattooed on his arm is a bottle of Aberfeldy. In honor of Ed and the Grammy Awards, Aberfeldy has created the perfect cocktail to toast all the winners.

Aberfeldy is a Scottish whisky. Aberfeldy is actually a highly touted distillery.  While the aging process happens off site, the distillery still creates the whisky in this historic distillery.

One reason why many people, including Sheeran, love the Aberfeldy is the distinctive flavor. From the extra long fermentation process and the particulars of the area, this whisky has a specific honey richness. That flavor distinguishes this whisky from other spirits.

While Aberfeldy is often drunk as a single malt, on its own. Some of the whisky is used as part of other blended whiskeys. Fans of  blended whisky know that honey flavor is from the Aberfeldy.

With the Grammy Awards about to be celebrated, Abefeldy has created a special cocktail that both its biggest fan and whisky fans can enjoy. The cocktail is the Golden Dram(my).

Here’s how to make the Golden Dram(my).

"Golden Dram(my)Ingredients:• 50 ml Aberfeldy 12• Local Honey Syrup*• 2 dashes Angostura Bitters• 2 dashes Orange Bitters• Orange zest garnishMethod: Add the heather honey syrup, bitters and half a measure of whisky to the glass. Add cubed ice and stir. Slowly add the remaining whisky and more ice cubes, continue to stir. Cut and then twist an orange zest expressing the oils over the drink and then garnish.* Local Honey Syrup: 100g of honey, 64g water, stir and leave to chill. Bottle and use accordingly."

This cocktail is a twist on an old fashion. The honey offers a more nuanced sweetness than traditional sugar. With the two different bitters, the cocktail has a roundness that makes it quite enjoyable.

For an additional twist, rub the orange rind on the rim of the glass to enhance the orange flavor. The natural oils will offer delightful aroma with each sip.
