Food memories can spark delicious creativity. This year’s Pillsbury Bake-Off winning recipe, Dublin Cheeseboard-Stuffed Appetizer Bread celebrates those memories.

Recipe inspiration can come from cherished food memories. The most recent Pillsbury Bake-Off winning recipe, Dublin Cheeseboard-Stuffed Appetizer Bread uses Melissa Jollands’s extraordinary family trip as its recipe inspiration. This winning recipe showcases that a special recipe is more than just the food on the plate.

The annual Pillsbury Bake-Off recipe contest is more than just creating a delicious recipe across various categories. This annual celebration of creative home cooks celebrates recipes that have a deeper meaning. Similar to last year’s winning recipe, flavors, family and experiences can be blended together to create a recipe that becomes a family favorite.

This year’s winning recipe came from the Appetizers for Any Party category. The grand prize winner prevailed over the other top recipes. Those top recipes included Cozy Weekend Breakfasts Category: Lauren Katz for her Cherry-Cream Cheese Crumb Cake Bombs, Winning Weeknight Dinners Category: Andrea Espinoza for her Poblano Shrimp Flatbread, and Sweet + Simple Desserts Category: Joanna Crumley for her REESE’s Piece ‘O’ Bliss Fudge.

Looking at the winning recipe, the recipe inspiration is quite lovely. According to Jolland, this winning recipe was inspired by a huge milestone trip to Dublin, Ireland. While celebrating their 25th anniversary, she became enamored with Dublin’s cheese and meat boards. The combination of cheese, meat, dried fruit and warm bread offered contrasting flavors and textures.

Looking specifically at this recipe, the combination of cheeses is quite flavorful. The honey goat cheese is luscious while the white cheddar is bold. Blending those two cheeses in this warm appetizer creates a delicious combination.

Additionally, the cheeses stand up to the richness of the salami. Both flavors are pronounced and balance each other. It makes each bite quite satisfying.

Since this recipe is a nod to a traditional Dublin cheese board, the traditional accompaniments are served with it. This recipe recommends dried apricots and fig preserves. Other options could be quince paste, a truffle honey or a personal favorite of your own.

Lastly, the addition of almonds on top is a nice touch. Nuts are often served with a cheese board. In this case, the sliced almonds add a note of texture to this tasty appetizer.
