Chick-fil-A adds Frosted Key Lime frozen beverage for Spring
The new Frosted Key Lime is another reason to give into your Chick-fil-A temptation. Could this frosted beverage be the next springtime obsession?
Frosted Key Lime is the newest frosted beverage to be added to the Chick-fil-A menu. Starting on March 18, the limited time menu offering will become available at participating locations. If this frozen treat sounds tempting, fans better hurry. It won’t be around for long.
According to Chick-fil-A, the Frosted Key Lime combines the classic Chick-fil-A vanilla IceDream, lemonade (or diet lemonade) and a “natural, sugar-free lime flavoring.” The lime flavoring is said to be a blend of “key limes, kaffir limes and Persian limes.”
Given this description, the frozen beverage should be both sweet and tart. That combination is part of the appeal of a traditional key lime pie. Still, the combination of lime flavors is quite intriguing.
Persian limes are a cross between a key lime and a lemon. This seedless lime is extremely common; it is the most widely used lime. Usually, this type of lime is less acidic than a key lime.
The most curious flavor addition is the kaffir lime. This lime is usually found in Asian cuisine. It often has a very intense citrus fragrance. Most likely, this ingredient is used sparingly.
Overall, the Frosted Key Lime should pair well with all the Chick-fil-A menu items. Also, given the warmer weather coming (hopefully), the flavor could be quite refreshing. Although only available through May 25, it would be nice to enjoy this drink during the warm summer months.
This latest frosted beverage menu item shows that Chick-fil-A customers really enjoy these type of beverages. While the original Frosted Lemonade is a permanent menu item, the seasonal offerings have done well for the fast food giant. Although lime isn’t necessarily a seasonal flavor (like peach), it will be curious to see if this frozen beverage could gain permanent menu status.
