August 29 might be Walt Disney World’s busiest day ever. While foodies always anticipate this food festival opening, crowds might keep them away.

Walt Disney World’s busiest day ever might not be caused just by the Star Wars Galaxy Edge opening at Hollywood Studios. While this highly anticipated opening will definitely draw immense crowds, Disney just announced that the annual Epcot Food and Wine Festival will open on the same day. Is this chaos or a stroke of genius?

In a recent Disney Parks blog post, a few details regarding the annual Epcot Food and Wine Festival were released. The opening day is August 29, the same day that Galaxy Edge opens. While the two event might not have the same fan base, it is curious that the same opening date was chosen.

For foodies, opening day of Epcot Food and Wine is usually a big event. People want to be one of the first ones to sample a new dish, sip a new beverage or see the latest merchandise. Given the crowds in the Walt Disney World area, people might postpone that first visit by a couple days or weeks.

Luckily, the 2019 Epcot Food and Wine Festival will run 87 days. It is the longest run of the food festival’s history. While additional details weren’t revealed, Disney will definitely plan something interesting to captivate its loyal fans.

Over the past couple of years, Epcot has increased the number of market places, added celebrity chef events and offered even more exclusive merchandise. Also, this year’s runDisney Wine and Dine event is the 10th anniversary, which should bring some additional excitement.

While some food fans might not like the extra people, the annual food festival could get some overflow from Star Wars fans looking for something else to do. Through the Epcot back exit, guests can reach Hollywood Studios.
