Del Taco is setting itself apart from other fast food brands. The nationwide Beyond Meat partnership modernizes the classic taco.
Del Taco has captured a first for a Mexican fast food concept. Just announced, the fast food brand will launch a nationwide partnership with Beyond Meat. Starting on April 25, all 580 locations will be offering two new menu items featuring Beyond Meat.
According to Del Taco, the new menu items are Beyond Avocado Taco (vegan) and Beyond Taco (vegetarian). Having both a vegan and vegetarian option, these two menu items could become hugely popular for the brand. Both options showcase the special Beyond Meat plant-based crumbles.
After a successful pilot launch in Southern California, this plant-based meat option is wanted by consumers. While vegetable focused menu items are becoming more popular, many consumers want more options. Incorporating the Beyond Meat crumbles into tacos is smart.
This version of the Beyond Meat crumbles is different from other options. The two brands worked together to create a signature seasoning and spices. This flavor accentuates the satisfaction in each bite.
While the Beyond Meat is featured in the two Beyond taco offerings, the Beyond Meat crumbles can be substituted in any protein on the menu. From burritos to nachos, the swap is doable. It expands the overall fast food menu is various ways.

Although I haven’t tried these tacos or seasoned version of Beyond Meat, the key to these menu items being successful is the use of the seasoning. Plant based meat alternatives absorb flavor well. While the tacos have great texture, the seasoning pushes the new menu items to the next level.
Additionally, it is smart that the Beyond Meat crumbles can be substituted in any of the menu items. Capturing either the vegetarian or flexitarian consumer is key to staying relevant. This particular food trend is only going to grow in popularity.
To entice consumers to try these new tacos, Del Taco will be giving away free coupons via their app. Starting on April 25, enter the code BEYOND on the brand’s app. Consumers will get a coupon to try a taco for free.
