Is MasterChef Junior ready for a restaurant takeover? The MasterChef classic challenge is back and these young cooks are ready.

MasterChef Junior tackles a huge chef challenge, a restaurant takeover. Reality cooking show fans love the restaurant episodes. It gives a glimpse into the restaurant world and shows what chefs can really do on the line. Will these young cooks be prepared for the challenge?

According to FOX, this week’s MasterChef Junior episode, “Restaurant Takeover” states:

"The Top Six junior home cooks tackle the most daunting challenge in MASTERCHEF JUNIOR history when they take over Michelin Star Los Angeles restaurant Mélisse. To rise to the occasion, the teams face an intense environment, hungry guests with high expectations and the wrath of Gordon Ramsay. Find out which team makes it straight into the semifinal and which team will be sent into eliminations in the all-new “Junior Edition: The Restaurant Takeover” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Tuesday, May 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

In many ways, this particular challenge would be daunting for any aspiring chef, let alone these young chefs. Mélisse, beyond being a Michelin Star restaurant, is an institution. Although the restaurant is currently closed for renovation, it is and will continue to be, a dining destination.

While it isn’t clear how many dishes each team will create, it can be assumed that the dishes will be French-American in style, which is the staple of Mélisse. These dishes should feature classic sauces, beautifully prepared proteins and impeccable plating.

Given that there are two teams of three, the young cooks need to communicate well. Just because the dish might be more elevated that the traditional MasterChef challenge, the components are manageable. They need to deliver on each element and make a composed dish.

In some ways, this challenge might be easier than last week’s corn challenge. When given a recipe and a plan, these young chefs should be able to deliver. They all have great palates, cooking ability and desire. Without the added pressure to create on the fly, these dishes could be the season’s best.

Still, the competition is nearing the end. With just a few more challenges remaining, even a favorite could fall hard. Will someone emerge as a leader and head straight into the semi-final?
