Ready for fun in the sun? Best Baker in America is ready to take a vacation but will these summer vacation desserts really be a picture perfect?

This week’s Best Baker in America has the seven remaining bakers looking for the perfect summer vacation inspiration. Could the temperatures inside the kitchen be as hot has these flamin’ desserts?

According to the Food Network, this week’s Best Baker in America episode, “Summer Vacation Desserts” synopsis states:

"The seven remaining bakers start out by making perfect floating island desserts. In the Master Challenge, host Scott Conant asks them to create a flaming bombe Alaska with mango as the featured flavor. Chocolatier Valerie Gordon joins judges Jason Smith and Marcela Valladolid to deliberate and give one baker their marching orders."

A floating island dessert is basically a meringue floating on a crème anglaise. The two dessert components will need to be made separately and then combined together.

While this dessert is a classic, it will be curious to see how the bakers add their own spin to the dessert. Each baker should be able to make a beautiful meringue and custard. The difference will be with the flavor combinations.

For the Master Challenge, the bakers take on another classic dessert. The flaming bombe Alaska and Baked Alaska are similar. The flaming bombe Alaska usually has dark rum over the meringue to create a vibrant flame.

The key to this dessert will be finding the perfect balance between hot and cold elements. From the perfect ice cream to the delicate sponge, each component will need to be on point.

Lastly, the use of mango could be a little tricky. Mango can be a difficult flavor to balance with all the other elements. It will be interesting to see which baker puts a creative spin on this flavorful ingredient.

Looking at the seven bakers, a few bakers have hit high notes consistently. Eric’s win in last week’s challenge could put him in contention, but he has other misses. Also, Joshua has consistently done well. At this point, it is really anyone’s title.
