The Food Network summer favorite is back. Wedding Cake Championship Season 2 premieres tonight. Will these best baking duo impress both the judges and the couple with their creativity?
According to the Food Network, this season’s premiere episode, “Puppet Love” synopsis states:
"Six of America’s best baking duos begin their quest for wedding cake domination and the $25,000 prize as hosts Tara Lipinski and Johnny Weir hit them with their first challenge, creating a cake topper that showcases a city of love. In the cake round, the bakers must create a dream wedding cake for Andrea and Jered, a couple of professional puppeteers who want a blend of a traditional wedding design for her and a puppet theme for him. The couple chooses their favorite cake to have at their wedding, and expert judges Kimberly Bailey, Maneet Chauhan and Randy Fenoli decide which team is sent home."
For the cake topper challenge, this challenge focuses on creativity. Given the phrase a city of love, it doesn’t necessarily specify a specific city. A city of love could be Paris, Philadelphia or somewhere else. It will be curious to see how these baking duos approach this challenge.
The first cake topper challenge could set the tone for the season. This challenge is a great example of time management skills. The idea is to find a way to be creative yet execute well in the limited time frame. The baking duo who can achieve this scenario will find themselves on top.

As for the cake round, this theme combination is quite challenging. A traditional wedding cake and puppets are a quite unusual pairing. Is there a creative way to find the balance between these two themes?
