BBQ Brawl: Flay vs. Symon will be Food Network’s must watch show

Looking for the ultimate barbecue battle? The new Food Network Show, BBQ Brawl: Flay vs. Symon will be summer’s must watch food TV.

Food Network has found a hit with its newest show BBQ Brawl: Flay vs. Symon. In this head to head competition, the two Iron Chefs (and friends) battle it out various BBQ challenges. Who will earn bragging rights?

Set to premiere on August 1, the four one-hour episodes feature various barbecue battles. While the two Iron Chefs won’t necessarily man the pits, they will be mentoring eight pitmasters on their journey to culinary greatness. According to Food Network, “Michael and Bobby compete to inspire and coach their teams.” Given both chefs culinary knowledge, this experience would be a dream for any barbecue enthusiast.

Although it is a relatively short series, food fans and barbecue lovers could learn a lot from this series. Episodes include a regional BBQ challenge, a Tomahawk Ribeye challenge and a huge BBQ battle. While the show won’t make a home cook an ultimate pit master, it could improve your next cookout. For those competing on the Food Network show, the winner will receive their own digital series in addition to the title.

Looking at this new show, it seems to follow the concept from the successful Buddy vs. Duff series from earlier this year. Food Network fans enjoy watching their favorite chefs battle it out. If this BBQ Brawl can capture some of the spirited fun from that baking competition, it will be must watch television.

Anyone who has seen Flay and Symon together knows that the pair have a great chemistry. While their friendship is apparent, their competitive spirit isn’t brushed aside. The banter in this competition should be entertaining.

With both chefs vast culinary background, it is difficult to say which chef has a mentoring edge. Although Symon does have a Mabel’s a very popular BBQ restaurant. Maybe he has a few extra tricks up his sleeve.

BBQ Brawl: Flay vs. Symon premieres on Thursday, August 1. The digital companion series, BBQ Brawl: The Pre-Heat debuts on the Food Network app starting Monday, July 29.
