MasterChef Season 10 episode 8 “Joe Takes a Risk” preview

MasterChef is back with two new episodes this week. In this episode, the home cooks face a team challenge but who will be safe from elimination?

After a break for the July 4th holiday, MasterChef is back and the battle is getting fierce. In this week’s challenge, the top 16 home cooks face a huge team challenge. Which group will have the teamwork to earn immunity?

According to FOX, this week’s MasterChef episode, “Joe Takes a Risk” features:

"The Top 16 home cooks fight for immunity in an epic team challenge. Split into two teams, the corresponding captains are immersed in Italian cuisine, as they head to Joe Bastianich’s Los Angeles restaurant, Osteria Mozza, to learn how to make a gourmet, authentic three-course Italian meal. The team captains then make their way back to the MASTERCHEF kitchen to teach their respective teams how to execute the same meal for the judges. Only one team will be safe in the all-new “Joe Takes a Risk” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Wednesday, July 10 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX."

First, team challenges are always precarious. While each home cook wants to prove his talent to the judges, the team must work together. In some cases, it better to be the best group than the best individual cook.

Thinking about a three-course Italian meal, it will be clear that the home cooks will need to make a pasta course. While making pasta can be challenging, these home cooks can get it done. No one will be using boxed pasta in this challenge.

Given that the challenge is a three-course meal, it seems likely that the teams will have to make a dessert. Hopefully, the dessert will be something that the home cooks can master easily. Wouldn’t it be nice to see a profiterole versus a complicated tiramisu?

Lastly, it seems that only the captains get to see the authentic three course meal at Osteria Mozza. Given that the captains must instruct their teams, it will be imperative that these captains took great notes and are clear in the instructions.
