MasterChef Season 10 episode 10 “Gerron’s Wedding” preview

Wedding bells are ringing again on MasterChef. In this week’s episode, season nine champion, Gerron Hurt, is walking down the aisle.

Move over chicken and green beans. In this week’s MasterChef episode, the top 14 home cooks better make this wedding meal a plate to remember. Since the groom is season nine champion, Gerron Hurt, these home cooks better cook to impress.

According to FOX, this MasterChef Season 10 episode 10, “Gerron’s Wedding” features the following:

"The Top 14 home cooks fight for immunity in another team challenge. Split into two teams, the captains scramble to lead their respective teams to success by preparing 45 meals in only 90 minutes for a very special event: a wedding to be held in the MASTERCHEF kitchen. Even more daunting, the wedding’s groom is MASTERCHEF season nine champion, Gerron Hurt. See which team will wow the bride, groom and guests with their creations and which team will face elimination in the all-new “Gerron’s Wedding” episode of MASTERCHEF airing Wednesday, July 17."

First, this episode is another team challenge. Since there are still many cooks in the competition, the team challenges are going to continue. It is the only way to narrow the field down into manageable tasks.

Still, the team challenges are problematic. As seen in previous episodes, some home cooks cannot communicate. This scenario causes a huge breakdown and teams fail.

While each home cook should try to cook his/her best, the team scenario doesn’t let these home cooks shine. Although no one wants to be in the elimination challenge, it is the only scenario where the home cooks can prove their worth to the judges.

Previously, MasterChef has done a wedding episode. While these episodes are a fun way to bring back former contestants, it would be nice to see some type of twist, something unexpected, especially in season 10.

Hopefully, the home cooks have push the boundaries in this reception menu. Who hasn’t had the dreaded chicken and green beans at a wedding reception? If these home cooks are looking to earn the title, these dishes need to be creative. Still, the cooks have to execute.

Given last week’s drama, no one will want to be on Subha’s team. While he can create amazing flavors, he is very scattered in the kitchen. That team might need to keep a close eye on his tasks.

Also, the team captains need to be strong leaders. Last week saw the captains lose direction. These captains need to jump in, delegate and keep everyone on point.
