In this episode of Gordon Ramsay Uncharted, Gordon travels to the mountains of Morocco for a celebratory feast, but can he honor the ancient Berber traditions.

While Gordon Ramsay is a well-traveled, experience chef, Gordon Ramsay Uncharted immerses him in experiences far removed from the traditional professional kitchen. In this episode, Gordon head to the mountains of Morocco and learns that fresh, delicious ingredients may not need lots of embellishment.

According to Nat Geo, “The Mountains of Morocco” episode features the following:

"Chef Gordon Ramsay travels to Morocco, North Africa, where he embarks on an adventure deep in the Middle Atlas Mountains to understand ancient Berber cuisine. Learning from the locals, he rappels over a waterfall to meet mushroom hunters, milks a camel and experiences the life of the Berber people. He puts his new skills to the test, cooking a feast with chef Najat Kaanache to celebrate Berber New Year."

While very few people will every experience this particular Berber celebratory feast, there are several other aspects of this episode that any cook can appreciate and apply. In some ways, the most telling aspect of this episode is the simplicity.

Any aspiring cook needs to understand that quality ingredients drive the flavor of a dish. In some ways, this whole program is about stripping away the extra and bringing food back to the basics.

Although some of the dishes and ingredients will not be found at the local grocery store, the cooking concepts can be applied to any recipe. Sure, most people will never eat let alone cook with camel, but think beyond that particular protein and see the inspiration behind that dish.

Of course, this episode is built on putting Gordon in unusual situations. From his journey to gather mushrooms to milking a camel, it is humorous to see him outside of the demanding Hell’s Kitchen demeanor.

But beyond those scenes, look for the quiet moments, the subtle cooking techniques and the celebration of people sharing a meal. Those hidden gems make this Gordon Ramsay show a feast for the foodie.
