Worst Cooks in America Season 17 episode 2 preview: My Big Fat Greek …
Can these Worst Cooks in America really learn some cooking skills in this season? After this week’s episode, Bobby and Anne might be dreaming of a Greek vacation.
Worst Cooks in America has a big challenge for these recruits this week. While Bobby Flay and Anne Burrell tried to instill some good cooking techniques last week, these recruits are in desperate need of some kitchen intervention.
According to the Food Network, this week’s episode, “My Big Fat Greek…” feature:
"The remaining recruits return to find boot camp has been transformed into a Mediterranean paradise. They explore Greek cuisine with a game that explores the tradition of plate smashing before learning how to make the Greek classics tzaziki and dolmas. Next, chefs Anne Burrell and Bobby Flay task the recruits with making their own mezze platters and a Greek lamb dish. In the end, the good is separated from the bad and the two worst recruits are sent home."
First, asking these recruits to cook Greek food on the second challenge is extreme. Although Greek food is extremely popular, these cooks have no skills. If they can’t even make a basic dish, how are they could to create a good tzatziki?
The two classic dishes that are listed are relatively well known. Tzaziki is a traditional sauce or dip. It usually has yogurt and cucumbers, as well as other seasonings.
Dolmas are stuffed grape leaves. While many people are familiar with this dish, they may not use the term dolma. There are many, many ways to create this dish. Some people love it and others prefer not to order it.
A mezze platter is similar to an appetizer platter but the platter can be large enough to be a full meal. There are several types of small bites meant for sharing. Often this type of platter has grilled eggplant, hummus, feta and other ingredients. Also, tzatziki is usually on this platter.
Asking the recruits to cook a Greek lamb dish is hard. Lamb needs to be seasoned and cooked correctly. Brown, over-cooked lamb is never, ever a good idea.
Will these recruits be able to transport Bobby and Anne to the Greek isles with their delicious Greek food? Here’s how to watch Worst Cooks in America Season 17 episode 2.
