It’s getting spooky on the Food Network. Halloween Baking Championship Season 5 premiere is here and these bakers are scaring up some sweet yet spooky treats. Are you ready for this must watch food TV?
According to the Food Network, this week’s Halloween Baking Championship Season 5 premiere episode, “Halloween Invasion” features:
"John Henson kicks off the competition by revealing all the skeletons in his family’s closet to inspire the eight bakers as they make scary skeleton desserts. The main heat is monster madness as the bakers conjure up monster-under-the-bed creations."
Looking at this synopsis, scary skeleton desserts need to deliver on the scary. While some skeletons can skew family friendly, these desserts need to be scary. Sorry, that that cute skeleton needs to stay in the closet.
It will be interesting to see if these bakers play it safe in the first round or push the boundaries. Sometimes, it can be smart to find the middle ground in the first couple of rounds. No one wants to swing for the fences and go home on the first challenge.
As for the second challenge, the idea of monster-under-the-bed creations, that ideas sounds like something borrowed from Halloween Wars. Again, this idea tends to be scary, not cute.
In a way, Halloween Baking Championship seems to be pushing the creative envelope more. These bakers aren’t here to make nice. They need to make the judge oooh, ahh and many even shudder a little.

It will be curious to see if the bakers have to make just a monster or a whole scene. Give the time constraints, the bakers need to be smart with their design choices.
Of course, there will be a twist in the middle of the challenge. Although it isn’t stated in the synopsis, fans of this Food Network show know that a twist will be included somewhere or somehow.
